Sonic007 Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Hi all, At the moment whenever I need to install Office 2019 I need to run: setup.exe /configure configuration.xml I'm curently building an automated install in Windows Configuration Designer so it installs a selection of software after the Windows install. Does anyone know the parameters to silent install Office? Thankyou.

LeMarchand Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 The last lines in our xml are: Apparently Display Level="None" means nothing visible, but I've yet to see anything so I'm guessing the EULA bit is more important. Maybe the D Level refers to any possible problems with the install? 1
DavR Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 setup.exe /configure configuration.xml with the following in configuration.xml Does the silent install for us. There's other stuff in our XML like choosing which apps to install / exclude, autoactivate Y/N, etc but I think those are just our preferences I think. Have you run through the Office Configuration Tool to create a bespoke configuration.xml, or are you using a default/downloaded one? 1
Sonic007 Posted April 20, 2023 Author Posted April 20, 2023 (edited) Thankyou everyone. Yes I've done the configuration tool and when I do a normal install I just go into my Office Setup Files folder, open up CMD, and type setup.exe /configure configuration.xml. The installer then opens up and goes ahead with the installation. I've just looked at the XML file and seen the Display level as Full so have changed that to None. Also made the mistake of not changing the source of the Office Setup Files folder as normally I copy it over to the C: drive. So I've edited that too and giving it a go now to see if it installs. Will report back. Thanks all. Edited April 20, 2023 by Sonic007
Sonic007 Posted April 20, 2023 Author Posted April 20, 2023 (edited) Hmmm, it doesnt seem to be working. anyone have any ideas? Thankyou. Here is my configurations xml file: SourcePath="D:\Software\MS_Office\office setup files" OfficeClientEdition="64" Channel="PerpetualVL2019" AllowCdnFallback="True"> I've changed the display level to "None" and the source to where the files sit to the USB drive. LeMarchand Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Hmmm, it doesnt seem to be working. anyone have any ideas? Thankyou. I call ours with a batch file that points to the location where the setup.exe and configuration.xml. The "Office" folder of downloaded stuff is also there. Not sure the last is necessary. "\\Server\Path\To\Folder\Office2019\setup.exe" /configure "\\Server\Path\To\Folder\Office2019\Configuration.xml" 1

"\\Server\Path\To\Folder\Office2019\setup.exe" /configure "\\Server\Path\To\Folder\Office2019\Configuration.xml" Same, FWIW. Don't know if that makes a difference. SourcePath="D:\Software\MS_Office\office setup files" Can the client access this source path when installing Office? D:\Software almost looks like a path on a server, that network clients wouldn't be able to access without a UNC. 1
LeMarchand Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Our source path isn't in the config, but in the bat. Decided to push a load of stuff via the config, so it goes on a bit. I've bolded the bits I think are critical: Our 2021 config has a few more tweaks, but might have some stuff that is of use. 1
