Gongalong Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Hi folks, I've got an issue with updating our group policy config to hide drives. I can’t remember if it was my predecessors or I, but group policy here is configured to hide drives as per this https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/group-policy/using-group-policy-objects-hide-specified-drives The DCs were updated a year or three ago and it looks like the system.adm file was replaced. I don’t remember whether the config changes were stored in this or another ADM file, but I can’t spot it in any custom files. Curiously the historic config is still taking effect. I have copied system.adm file and added the additional drive settings to hide, added that to administrative templates as a custom policy template and… my changes don’t appear in the policy editor. Anyone have any ideas as to why the custom adm file isn’t taking effect? Thanks
Davit2005 Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 You can use Group Policy Preferences to do the same I think. 1
Gongalong Posted April 19, 2023 Author Posted April 19, 2023 Sorted it. I should have been looking at the WindowsExplorer.admx file in the central store. Not sure if that's a wise place to have edited them previously, but that's where the changes were made.
