Brax Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 Has been needed for a long time, takes up way too much resources.
DrCheese Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 I'm not seeing the setting in Teams Admin centre? You won't. The swines haven't enabled it for edu tenants yet. Even if you set the preview mode via powershell it won't show. 1
DrCheese Posted March 27, 2023 Posted March 27, 2023 So it won't show.. but if you set the policy via powershell Then pull the latest MSIX from MS direct https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ItzLevvie/MicrosoftTeams-msinternal/master/defconfig2 (You want Teams 2.1 - 23085.200.1968.185) It'll let you login. You can see why it's blocked by default on EduTenants tho as none of the education stuff is ready (assignments etc) But it does let you see a shape of things to come 1
titch Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Please let it be properly deployable and not sit lurking in users own areas ready disappear or not update at the drop of a hat.....please please please.
Tefters Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Please let it be properly deployable and not sit lurking in users own areas ready disappear or not update at the drop of a hat.....please please please. This 1000 times. Install to system, not user and be deployed/installed via managed methods. Rotating computers with user apps installing in appdata is just shocking. 1
jthompson Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 Yeah, it still amazes me that the company that brought us AppLocker also brought us the Teams deployment method. Almost as bad as GoTo.
escgdanny Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 I tried setting the policy but usenewteamsclient is not a valid option as it returns an error "a parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name.....|" Do I just wait for it to reach EDU?

ITGuyNW Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 The biggest change for us will be the ability to switch organisations like the mobile app. Why they left that out of the desktop version up to now I don't know.

Edu support isn’t until the later in the 2nd half of the year.

Is it still an electron JavaScript webapp? Surely that's the most easily deployed app there is - Point a browser at a URL....

Rebuilt from the ground up. Now hosted in Edge WebView2 Some details https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams-blog/microsoft-teams-advantages-of-the-new-architecture/ba-p/3775704 1
escgdanny Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Good news the powershell setting is now valid and I'm running the new Teams, thanks!
