Sgriffin Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Good Afternoon All, Since we have migrated over to our new servers, we have had an onoging issue, on first login that the folder redirection is 'Pending' it then requires a gpudpdate which then fails due to a lack of connectivity to the Domain Controller, the machine is then restarted, and when the login is started gpupdate via impero, which then seems to sort the issue. We believe it is a DNS Issue, but is there something I should be checking? DNS isn't something I am overly experience with so any help is appreciated
RLR Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 When you switched to the new servers, did you change the IP address of your DNS server(s)? If so, are your computers using the correct IP address for the DNS server?
Sgriffin Posted March 8, 2023 Author Posted March 8, 2023 We did indeed, and yep, they laptops are pointing to the correct DNS Servers. It does seem to just affect wireless devices.
LeMarchand Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Do you have power saving allowed on wireless devices and/or the "wait for network" type GPO enabled?
LeMarchand Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 They do indeed, please see image below I cannae see it, laddie.
LeMarchand Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Should be there hopefully this time ...and the network power saving?
Sgriffin Posted March 9, 2023 Author Posted March 9, 2023 Unless I'm looking in the wrong place, these are what we have set.
LeMarchand Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Might be barking up the wrong tree, but I was thinking of this setting in Device Manager. and was wondering if the network adapter/s were having a snooze for some reason during startup/logon. Might be worth experimenting on a device. If turning the power saving off helps, it can be controlled by a reg setting/GPO: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-GB/troubleshoot/windows-client/networking/power-management-on-network-adapter 1
