elsiegee40 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 We have decided that a single thread would be the best place for those of you raising funds for good causes. The ground rules: 1. Fundraising must be for a charity/school/not for profit with the money going directly to that organisation or via a recognised platform such as JustGiving or CAF. 2. Any fundraising where the money goes to an individual before going to the cause will not be permitted. 3. In line with our rules on no political discussion, fundraising for causes deemed political may not be advertised in this thread. 4. If you have concerns about any post in this thread, please report it so the Moderators can deal with it rather than challenging within the thread. 5. Please don’t spam other threads. This is the place for such appeals and progress updates. 6. The decision of the Moderators and Administrators is final. Please bear with us as we establish the status quo for what is and isn’t acceptable. So whatever you’re doing to raise funds for your chosen cause… whether you’re running a marathon, lying in a bath of baked beans or running a promise auction… please feel free to tell everyone about it here.
bald_pig Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Would be rude not to say that I'm about 3/4 of the way through 200km for Help for Heroes! The fundraiser is through Facebook Fundraising, so if anyone would like to donate, PM me and I'll send the link, seeing as it links to my Facebook profile as well... 2

Any update on how things are looking? Appeal successful There’s now enough in reserves to keep us going. We also have more monthly donors. The next job is build the number of monthly donors and to find other sources of income to ensure the rescue is sustainable going forward.

kennysarmy Posted January 27, 2025 Posted January 27, 2025 Hi all, I'm doing a bit of fund-raising throughout February for a very worthy cause. I'm taking on 28 Miles in February to raise money for the one million people that are living with dementia in the UK today. The first treatments that can slow Alzheimer's disease are now on the horizon. My Mum died of this very cruel disease back in 2022. This was just one of the amazing tributes left for her. I knew Joan most of my life. As a teacher she was nothing short of outstanding in all subjects she taught, she helped many of us achieve greater things with her guidance & teaching always managing to be respected by both girls, boys & parents alike. Always fair and ready to listen. She was my Guide/Ranger leader for many years who made guiding a fun activity alongside teaching us many skills, willing us on to reach our potential. Many a camping trip or Hike she led in both Northumberland and Lake District also later as a ranger taking a group to London which was amazing fun and a highlight of our teenage years! She then in turn taught my 3 children all who would say she was the best teacher they ever had. Joan also helped my boys by running the junior golf league at Belford having great patience with even those who perhaps didn't have a natural ability thus making it accessible to all teenagers. Many of her golfers achieved great things with her guidance. She was one of life's GIVERS of her time especially to young people. Many of us have much to be thankful for in knowing her and the help and time she gave freely to our children and ourselves in this village. https://socialsync.app/fundraiser/cr-qzvwlpyjpqz5w?sfnsn=scwspwa If you can give even just a small donation it would be very appreciated. Thanks Jeff

Hey everyone, My name’s Rich Knight aka Mr. Knightmare — I’m a Special Effects Makeup Artist, Actor, Musician and lifelong creator of the spooky and strange. Right now, I’m competing in the Face of Halloween contest, a nationwide charity event that raises money for great causes while celebrating creativity, costume design, and the spirit of Halloween itself. Each vote helps support charity and helps me climb the ranks toward the title of Face of Halloween 2025. I’m currently holding my ground near the top, but I need a little extra push from kind souls who love the spooky season and believe in using creativity for good. 👁️🗨️ Here’s how you can help: Vote daily — it’s free! Or donate to send bonus votes that go directly toward the supported charities. Every vote counts, every donation helps, and every share keeps the darkness alive in the best way possible. If you love Halloween, art, and charitable causes — join me and the Knightmare Force. Together, we’ll make this season legendary. 🕯️ <):}> 👉 Vote here: https://faceofhalloween.org/2025/rich-knight-aka-mr-knightmare Thanks for reading, and for keeping the spirit of giving alive — even in the dark. — Mr. Knightmare
