Three Teaching Displays

Hi Guys,

 

Maybe someone could shed some light on this we are currently looking at providing 3 screens in classrooms (Two Monitors and One Interactive Screen). Monitor One will be the primary display, Monitor two and three (interactive board) will be duplicated the issue we seem to have is the touch capabilities seem to be attached to monitor one rather than the mirrored displays.

 

We have tried going to tablet PC settings and calibrating the interactive board as the touch input with no such luck the only way we can get this to work is by setting monitor two to the primary display although this is not great because apps will open by default on monitor two first causing confusion to teachers

 

We have been told contrasting opinions from suppliers saying we would need an additional graphics card to do this but we have tested this with exactly the same result

I'm not sure I ever got it working, seemed like a limitation of Windows.

Not a solution but a workaround, could you run the two non-touch monitors off a splitter? That way PC only sees two screens to choose between for interactivity, which it can usually deal with.

 

I appreciate this comes at an extra cost though.

Yes we have tried this but unfortunately we have the same issue

Unfortunately this wouldn't be viable because the teachers want one of the monitors and interactive whiteboard to duplicate and provide touch at the same time.

Can confirm this works for us - a quicker method is to search 'calibrate' on the start menu and select 'calibrate screen for pen or touch' then follow the prompts

 

UAC is required so it does need to be done by an admin (stupid) but can be done remotely if someone is there to tap the correct screen (!)

It seems to be a windows 10 thing - yes the touch functionality only works on monitor 1 so you have to physically move monitor one to the position on the desk that the teacher prefers (left monitor or right monitor) and then use windows display properties to drag the screens around virtually so that the extended display makes sense with the mouse (i.e drag the cursor from left to right screen is actually monitor 2 left and monitor 1 right).

 

It's a potch. Things were so much more reliable in the old days with just a VGA splitter that worked for 10 years solid.

It's not great, but perhaps set Touch as primary and try to use Fancy Zones in Power Toys to get apps to snap to "correct" monitor.

We use a VGA splitter on monitor 1 for the interactive board and main display, then monitor 2 is the monitor the teachers do 'private' work on that doesn't get shown. Had no complaints.

 

Not sure we've ever been able to get monitor 2 working for mirroring/interactivity on our BenQ boards.

 

Any reason why it has to be monitor 2?

*UPDATE*

 

Hi Guys thanks for the feedback we have discovered the issue is with the C-Touch interactive whiteboards.

 

As some of you suggested I tried using a a VGA splitter but this made no difference although when I have purchased the following HDMI splitter https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B083JVPXDY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details it works on some of the new IIYAMA interactive displays we have.

 

This still does pose a-bit of an issue as we have got 50+ of these interactive displays if anyone is curious its this model CT65LED40BOS4PAG I have also been InTouch with C-Touch and updated the boards with the latest drivers which still doesn't resolve the issue

 

*note- the calibration tool does not resolve the issue on these C-Touch displays as it cannot identify the screen as a touch screen

 

*note- Also it has to be in this configuration otherwise by default apps will open on the main monitor first which will confuse teachers and as far as I'm aware this cannot be resolved without using third party software

 

Any further suggestions would be much appreciated
