Jaan Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 (edited) You guys getting SMTP exceeded notifications since just before xmas? Just looking into a possible issue where even though communication is set to use a 'Push' notification (where a parent has registered) , it sends an email. With started to receive SMTP exceeded notifications and just presumed it was a staff training issue. I'm still waiting on confirmation here, but two other school have confirmed they have this issue. Anybody in the same boat? EDIT: it's not down as a known issue on their site. Cheers Edited January 24, 2023 by Jaan

The SMTP Service is essentially how Emails are sent from your system, either via a Bromcom server or your own Server. If you are using Bromcom's SMTP Server, this comes with 3000 free Email Credits a month so it is likely that you are close to/over this allowance if you are being notified about it (you can check your balance via Modules>Communication>Overview). You can also use this page to upgrade your monthly allowance if needed. Hope this helps and if you have further questions, please let me know. Kind regards, Bromcom Support
Jaan Posted January 24, 2023 Author Posted January 24, 2023 Yes i'm fully aware of this. My post is regards to emails being sent even though 'push notification' is only set. A couple of people on the Bromcom community page are reporting a similar thing, in that they have started to receive SMTP exceeded notifications and/or emails are being sent instead of push notifications. Thought i just post here to see if others have experienced that same thing, as there's a probability that people on here are from a Technical background vs the members that might post on the Bromcom community. We haven't actually confirmed this on our site yet (hopefully tomorrow). But it would explain why we started to receive SMTP notifications all of a sudden.
CHiLL Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Microsoft have are disabling basic authentication for all tenants in Office 365 and as such, Bromcom have disabled their Microsoft SMTP relay (https://community.bromcomcloud.com/setup-29wgkogd/post/office-365-smtp-no-longer-supported-by-bromcom-TkbxxVPiUlTKkCH). It is annoying, because that only leaves us with Bromcom's own SMTP service, which is only free us you use 3000 or less emails per month.
psydii Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 I'm wondering if Bromcom et al. can make can help their customers to make use of this: https://www.notifications.service.gov.uk/
Theblacksheep Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 yep, schools are hitting their previous monthly limits in a week.
Jaan Posted January 30, 2023 Author Posted January 30, 2023 We have always used Bromcom's SMTP service. We've also started to hit our limit within the week all of a sudden.
