cookie_monster Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Hi all I haven't got time to start playing with loads of free downloads i've tried a couple but they aren't really free they're limited trials, can anyone recommend a good (or poor as long as it works ) CD - MP3 ripper that will also add ID3 tags (no Real Player please)? If you can work out what it is, please let me know! I have it installed on 4/5 machines that all work fine; my daughters... Does exactly what you describe. I did in the ast work out which box to tick to make it work, but can't remember how. I'll look at it again tomorrow! EDIT I think you'll find it under Settings CD-ROM access method. cookie_monster Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 Yes i thought that might be the case but i couldn't alter that setting, then i realised that i wasn't running the program as administrator FN-Greatermanchester: WMP only rips to WMA files unless you faff around with extra codecs.

Cant remember the name of the latter though I agree entirely with this setup for the best quality ripping if you use it in secure mode. Modern drives should be able to rip securely at about 6X, which takes less time than fixing all the errors in a freedb tracklisting. No need for a 3rd party app to add the tags though - EAC will do that for you during ripping if you set it up. Works well for me Audio grabber is what I used to use and is pretty good as well.

Besides, it looks like the days of downloading illegal mp3s may soon be over. Long live old school mp3 swapping in the playground!
