New DC - dcdiag error - DFSREvent - error events within 24hours - failing SYSVOL

Hello,

I have just setup and promoted a new Server 2019 DC, which will replace our old 2012R2 DC.

When I run dcdiag on the new DC I am getting the following error,

Starting test: DFSREvent There are warning or error events within the last 24 hours after the SYSVOL has been shared. Failing SYSVOL replication problems may cause Group Policy problems.

Is this one of those errors that will probably vanish after 24 hours, as replication and SYSVOL have just been created and will have an error from being setup?

Any advice?

We get that every day, caused by the pause to the dc's during snapshot for VEEAM. Also happens if a DC tries to replicate with another while the partner is rebooting.

Check your event logs for the error, they should clearly be transient and at time when a DC was coming up/down or being backed-up. If the logs are full of the errors, then you have a problem that needs looking into.

Only error seems to be at the time I did the promotion, everything listed since seems OK.

I’ve had this and it’s usually disappeared after 24 hours. Always gets me tho - that heart drop when you think it’s all gone wrong lol

Oh god this.

Every time the service desk received a flood of alarms from the SAN because one of the hosts has rebooted for an update...

or every year around this time when finance haul me in to say I'm 90% over budget, which in some years is a serious amount of money. I never am, we just spent 90% of the allocation in the first 6 months of the financial year because the big contracts/licenses renew in April, and we deliver the projects over the summer...

and then the remote desktop takes just a little longer than normal to let me in...

Hah yes, I remember getting permission from the bursar to save up the bulk of my budget till the end of the financial year, then forward spending on a pro forma into the next budget. This was for a server and storage complete renewal project that went through all the necessaries. The memo didnt get to the finance admin who did a fit when a 160% budget single invoice hit them, thus getting me hauled in.
