Many cultures regard it as perfectly normal to marry and have children at a woman's most fertile age, and necessary to end up with enough children to look after parents in their old age. I DON'T think that this is what is best for women (especially in this case). They should have the same opportunity as men. But in poor agricultural cultures where no one has 'opportunities' it is a fact of life.
3s-gtech Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 Perhaps, but not in the 20th century in a supposedly ‘civilised’ country by someone who was well exposed to the benefits (and vices) of that time. Claiming a cultural reason for it - that has also been used in rape defence. It’s abhorrent.
