Multipurpose room - Locking computers away

We are creating a Multi purpose room where Education want a number of PCs that can be locked away when the room is in use for other activities.

 

We are a Autistic Primary school, so require the computers to be out of sight for some occassions. Laptop are out of the question due to high amounts of damage.

 

I was thinking of a USFF PC and monitor screwed to the wall on a mount and then using a wireless KB & Mouse that can be put away.

 

Does anyone know of a manufacturer that does anything that could go around these and then lock? (roller shutter???) doors are too big and will get in the way.

 

Anyone got any ideas?

I can't put my hand to any roller shutter things, but using AIO PCs rather than USFF+monitor would be a simpler thing to mount. It'd be a straightforward VESA mount, and will keep closer in to the wall.

 

If it's simply a matter of hiding the PCs from view, what about a regular window roller blinds, made to measure? It'd offer no physical protection, but would blank the things out of view.

AIO's would get trashed very quickly in our environment, where a refurb monitor os easy and cheap to replace. I did consider them though.

 

Thankyou for the idea of a roller blind but would need to find a way of mounting it away from the wall

You could mount them to the underside of a shelf. You then get a shelf to put stuff on, too

Might not be what you're looking for but a quick internet search of 'roller shutter bathroom cabinets' comes up with some ideas...

Not lockable, but if you're handy or have site services I'm sure a cheap cam lock could be fitted?

We had some SFF PCs, mounted to the back of the monitors while on swing arms attached to the wall for an engineering install. Kept the desks clear. Got everything needed from Very PC.

I'd go down the route of getting your estates team or a carpenter to knock something up. A shelf as @jthompson mentioned above the PCs with shutters mounted to them, then shutters going down to the floor. Depending how many computers you want to be behind them it might work out cheaper than getting individual units. Edited October 14, 2022 by Davit2005

We're an Autistic Secondary and have this exact setup (although we no longer use the ability to hide away as we've out grown the available space). The monitor is attached to a piece of wood which is on hinges and the computer is on a shelf beneath the desk out of site. The monitor can be folded down hiding the keyboard and mouse and locked leaving a regular desk. This was knocked up by a carpenter
