Hi all,

Just updated the paxton server from 6.0.5 to 6.6 (i think it was). i wasn't aware it would update the acu firmware also. at about 2:30pm the whole site started doing acu firmware updates.

All doors have green ticks in the console, but all of them are "updating firmware". I left it to it thinking it will be fine once they have all updated....... no point in watching a progress bar.......

Just remoted in now, everything is still updating....... the doors are still going through steps of updating, seems to complete, then seems to starting updating firmware again!?

So for about 9 hrs it's been doing this, i assume it's just looping and can't be right. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Update to this..... checked this morning and its done!

Can't believe it took so long!!

It took 16 hours! i had to press the green emergency exit buttons on the end of line doors as they stopped working. The midline doors were accessible until it was their turn to get firewire updates. once the firmware was updated (multiple times), these doors would comeback online.

The end of lines weren't accessible until all the doors had looped what seemed to be 100s of times and all the firmware updates had completed.

All checked first thing today and all doors are back online.

Yes, it depends how they are connected. If they all have direct ethernet connections then it's quite quick, but if they are connected to each other over RS485 then it has to do one at a time and is painfully slow doing it!

Firmware updates with many doors (and long RS485 lines) can be painful.

Many years ago, Paxton recommended I that I untick the doors in Net2 Config and slowly re add after each "string" of doors had updated.

Otherwise I had doors randomly locked out until the updates had been completed and it was chaos...
