Afternoon all

I'm looking to streamline ID Card Production as currently we have to Print ID Cards and then manually scan them into each system such as Paxton, Papercut, Entrysign.

We have a MagiCard 600 Printer with Elatec Endcoder built-in, so I would like to take advantage of this and be able to print and encode at the same time.... but paxton doesn't work with the encoder.

Ideally I would like to use a single piece of Software which we can centrally manage, add users, print and encode cards and then that software will feed into the other systems.

I've seen mentions of CardExchange - which looks like it will take care of the Paxton side of things.

I'm also thinking Card Exchnage can then Sync to ID Card Token to AD and then Papercut would sync the AD field to allow the ID Card to be used.

Which takes care of 2 of the systems - or so I am thinking...... (what version of Card Exchange would I need to have AD Sync and Paxton Integration?)

Entrysign is my sticking point, we sync details from SIMS. - Does any who uses EntrySign, know if you can the bulk of the data from your MIS and then sycn the Access Tokens from AD?

Open to other suggestions/methods.

Cheers

I'm just in the process of trying to setup CardExchange (although rebranded as TrustID through Magicard) and trying to get it setup with AD.

The aim is then to have it read and write the card number back to AD. Salamander will then handle the sync to Paxton, PaperCut will sync from AD. But yeah I've spoken with EntrySign and they have said if you are syncing with SIMS then there is no way to sync card numbers from AD.

I'm pretty sure Salamander supports ID numbers in SIMS as a user defined field. I can't remember which way round it was though. Whether the card number needs to be put into SIMs to get pulled through to AD or if the card number goes into AD and gets pushed to SIMs.

We print all the cards and then they are handed over to the student (Sixth Formers only). They then have to register the badge themselves on a MFD in the school, by tapping against the RFiD reader, entering their network username and password. This then registers the card to their account in PaperCut.

I have a script that runs every hour that reads the Card ID Number on each user in PaperCut and copies that over to a field in AD. On our Net2 Server, we have an add-in installed called Net2ADSyncServer (Net2ADSyncServer | Paxton (paxton-access.com) that monitors AD groups and creates groups of users based on AD User Groups and reads in the AD Attribute as the Card Number. This was before the likes of Salamander or Locker started offering sync-ing to Net2.

It works well for us, not totally streamlined, as the user has to register the card themselves, but it works ok for us. Our version of PaperCut is quite old so the script is not very clever, as it extracts the info one user at a time which does take sometime to do. A newer version of PaperCut allows you to dump out the entire user data base and Card ID numbers in one go which a PowerShell script could read in the Card ID and update users in AD en-masse, but Konica won't update us just yet.

I’ve had a quote for card exchange for use on 2 computers with AD and Net2 integration and it was a bit more than I was expecting.

May have to stick with the manual process for now :-(
