CHiLL Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 We are changing MIS over the summer and have been quoted £150 by Inventry (not included in the support contract) to change it between the two. As far as we can tell, it's as simple and changing a few options in the Inventry settings. Is this the case, or do they have to do some other stuff? Because it seems like a lot just to change a handful of fields.
CHiLL Posted June 30, 2022 Author Posted June 30, 2022 Same here Has yours been done yet? If so, do you know what they actually did?
andy_b Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 The work hasn't been completed yet. I imagine it is changing a few fields on the Inventry software and in our case making an API request to Arbor.
Michael Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Sounds about right from previous experience. All I will say is I still see quite a few running Windows 7 as the OS... maybe a good opportunity to upgrade?
k-strider Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 same here at the primary from sims to Progresso/Cloud School £150
speakercon Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 (edited) Same here, I was surprised (although I guess I shouldn't have been) as none of the other 10+ systems we had integrated with SIMS charged us. The technician at InVentry I initially spoke too about said it was a quick straightforward job but someone from sales would have to be in touch. The email from sales then stated how it was a very long and complex process and as such they have to charge... It took them under an hour to do. What choice do we have but to pay unless we abandon them? Frustrating Edited June 30, 2022 by speakercon 1
DrBeaker Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 If the school/SLT etc has decided on the move to another MIS, they'd better pony up the cost for the migration. Quite simple really. Those companies don't work for free, why would anyone expect them to help them move to another system for free? The money I've seen wasted on things, £150 is nothing. Bear in mind if YOU "try and do it yourself" and cock it up, they're gonna charge you anyway to fix it.
IrritableTech Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 We paid and they migrated us. It requires them to make the API call so I’m not convinced you can do it yourself. As mentioned, most don’t charge but £150 is a tiny amount and you’re probably saving considerably more than that by moving MIS. The bit that annoyed me was sales telling us our kit was old and we could save the £150 by replacing the installation for £1500. 1
HereIGoAgain2601 Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 We have been charged £150 per school in the Trust for moving to IRIS EDGEN. A drop in the ocean compared to the charges from CRB Cunninghams to switch over the cashless solution.
