How do you register extra curricula activities?

SLT want to register what pupils are where for extra curricula activities.

 

Ideally they want a system where pupils would register using a QR code or fingerprint. Main issue is that attendance for activities can be random so there is not a set list of pupils for each activity.

 

Is anyone doing something similar and if so what are you using?

Here we have been told that membership is random so they don't necessarily know who is in what club if you get my meaning

Staff member registers the pupils via that. Parents also sign their child(ren) up via it too.

Yes that makes sense. Our clubs are pre booked with a set membership time, but in your situation we could create a club(s), add all eligible pupils and then the register would just have who is there for that session.

Special mobile applications could be used where students could scan QR codes to register for events. These applications can be configured so that they do not require a predetermined list of participants, but allow any student to join the event as it becomes available. You may consider using biometric systems such as fingerprint scanners for registration.

That sounds like a great idea to keep track of student participation! I've seen schools use QR codes effectively for this. Students just scan the QR code posted at the activity location with their phones, which logs their attendance. Fingerprint scanners are also a cool option but might be more expensive and complex to set up.
