Frodo_Baggins Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 (edited) Hi Everyone, Not sure what to do with this one, thoughts? Computing teachers use Replit for Python, students have started using this to install other browsers within Replit to bypass filtering services (hosted on Repl's servers not internally.) I've got Senso Cloud picking up bits and pieces but seems to be missing some of the searches, anyone came across this before and know of a solution to block\ restrict packages? - One for teachers to police? They seem to have been using Replit for a while and I do like the idea of it but could be a bit of a nightmare (we use Netsweeper and Senso Cloud) Cheers Edit: Feel free to move if it's in the wrong subforum (posted here as replit is hosted) Edited June 14, 2022 by Frodo_Baggins 1
supportman Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 Interesting to me as we are moving towards the cloud host. I'd personally think its one for the teachers to monitor rather than needing anything specific. 1
paulkerton Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 We spent a week playing whack-a-mole and regularly check our filters for repl.it sites that are set up. If we need to, we block repl.it whilst we do the whack a moling and we wait for computing to kick off, so we can explain to them what is happening and who is doing it.

Frodo_Baggins Posted June 20, 2022 Author Posted June 20, 2022 Anyone got an example I can see? Looks like Repl operate a version with a built-in firewall so we'll use that, If you still want an example for Smoothwall then this is one https://replit.com/@spykidx/Chromium-Advanced
paulkerton Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 Looks like this will fix it: https://blog.replit.com/computing-superpower-at-school Fantastic. I emailed this to our IT team on Thursday - still haven't heard back yet
jerryfudd Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Has anyone got replit working behind a smoothwall? Something is blocking it from creating repls, but due to the lack of logs in Smoothwall, no idea what! Allowed a bunch of things to try and troubleshoot, but still nothing.
filteringtech Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Just to say that there's a jumbo jet full of "things that pupils shouldn't be accessing" because of "a specific KCSIE" reason hosted there. We have it blocked with the items required for the Computing Science GCSE curriculum whitelisted. Ditto herokuapp, vercel and railway, which host "the same things".
