Hi,

We have some students that keep having the same issues with these laptops, we believe the students are doing this but we are not quite sure how and searching online seems to bring zero answers, the touchpad seems unresponsive with the DELL LATITUDE 3190 laptop and the only way we can fix this for the time being is reimaging and handing back but this is happening more frequently so I am wondering is there a function or something I can do to re-enable the touchpad then and there, this could be passed on to our teaching staff if the issue persists then.

cheers,

BL

We have the 3190 I am not sure there is a function key on the 3190 to lock or unlock the touch pad.

In the past I have just left a usb mouse to use, to get into the system and unlock when logged in, seems to work that way.

it may have to be the way forward unfortunately, its becoming a real pain at the moment.

we have managed to remote on to the affected laptops and see if it was a driver issue but no joy.

Do you use impero by any chance? We have a current issue with the (as of the time of writing) latest version of impero which seems to disable the mouse after you disconnect from a session with that machine. If this happens on a desktop you can just reseat the mouse in a different port and it fixes it but obviously this isn't possible with a touchpad so we have to enable it within Device Manager. At least we think the 2 are linked. We have the Dell Latitude 3190 laptops and the same thing you describe is happening.

I've just been given a Dell 3190 with a trackpad issue, its never done it one these before but I've had it loads of those E10 Dynabook with the same issue and it has an I2H driver issue in device manager which I can't sort, and even if I re-image the laptop the trackpad doesn't come back.

Actually turns out this was the trackpad cable being slightly loose on our 3190. Might be worth a double check.

Also had this on the Dynabook E10 we have, no idea why I didn't check that before. Put it down to a problem with the actual trackpad.
