MS are not dropping support for IE on LTSC versions of server. However the only reason you'd need it is some legacy app.

 

That's a good point actually - maybe I should have included Remove IE and install nothing else (browser-less)?

Where a browser is required, we tend to install Chrome. In any case, we also have duff proxy settings applied for server admins via GPO, just to avoid accidental browsing.

2022 has edge installed so that is good enough for the non-core servers. Edited by KK20

In the end I decided to remove IE on every server, regardless what role(s) it was running and only installed Google Chrome on servers that require it.

 

Examples in my case are Papercut MF and ePortal - useful to be able to test on the VM itself, but should also lower the surface area of attack longer term.
