Suspect email from Microsoft re unspecified "End of Support"

Just had a weird email from "Microsoft" with the heading "END OF SUPPORT NOTICE". Has anyone else ever had something like this?

 

It's coming from what looks to be a legit Microsoft email address, and I can't immediately see their angle if it is a scam, but it just has a very weird vibe, and is very non-specific about which, of our Microsoft products, is reaching end of support.

 

My current feeling is that this is phishing and I should ignore it, just wondering if anyone else has had an approach from M$ like this and it be legit.

Yeah. The more I say it out loud, the more it feels like phishing.

 

It's a very convincing email spoof though!

Does the Microsoft email have a V- at the start? If so that’s their 3rd party sales team for external organisations

If it's third party sales then I feel a lot more comfortable ignoring it.

As discussed over the phone, I was assigned as the Microsoft dedicated consultant for XXX

 

As stated during our call, The company has several servers such as, XXX

 

As you know there are some licenses that will be reaching out the end of support and will be no longer supported by Microsoft and other have an extended end date.

 

I will be waiting for your feedback about whether the school is still deploying these licenses or not.

 

In case you are still using them, I would recommend you think about using a newer edition of these license, or you can migrate to the cloud.

 

I would highly recommend you think about Azure hybrid benefits, it is a licensing benefit that helps you to significantly reduce the costs of running your workloads in the cloud. It works by letting you use your on-premises Software Assurance-enabled Windows Server and SQL Server licenses on Azure.

V-Dash accounts aren't just "third party sales", basically any company Microsoft has contracted to do work on its behalf, the employees will have a [email protected] address. Be that someone trying to upsell something, someone offering support with Surface, or even the M365 Fast Track has a lot of third party staff working on it.
