neonetman Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 After installing Dreamweaver for our staff and students, whenever we try to run the software it comes up with an error asking us to replace the menus.xml. Once you have run it as an administrator, it then works normally. I've tried giving full access to the program folder on a test machine to see if this allows it to do what it needs, but the error still occurs. Can anyone offer any insights into this? Cheers
old_n07 Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 (edited) From a quick google it looks like you can edit the menu.xml with NP++ and this fixes the issue - you could then copy a "fixed" copy out to all machines via group policy. It appears that this bug has been around for over 10 years. Open menus.xml with Notepad++ Hit keys Ctrl + F Click Replace tab Insert && in search Insert && in Replace by Hit Replace all button Save the file HTH EDIT: Are you redirecting Appdata as at first run DW creates the menu.xml (and other config files) in the users Appdata Edited April 7, 2022 by old_n07
neonetman Posted April 7, 2022 Author Posted April 7, 2022 I did try that fix, and that didn't work. (I will try re-installing and starting fresh with this fix And yes we do redirect the appdata
3s-gtech Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Redirected AppData with Adobe CC can be very temperamental (or plain not work) and is unsupported. Can you test without redirection?
