renew exchange certificate

so i semi-followed the instructions here:

SSL Enabling OWA 2003 using your own Certificate Authority

 

and renewed our expired certificate,

 

now in the certificate authority app, I have

#2 expired cert

#3 new cert

 

I'm guessing if i revoke the expired one the new will take over?

 

I'm a bit scared to do it in case I break external webmail.

If you originally followed the article you listed then you should be able renew the certificate directly from IIS on the Exchange server. Right-click on Default Web site and choose Properties, click on Directory Security tab, then click Server Certificate button. Choose Renew from the options and you should be able to update the installed certificate directly.

 

Check at the end of it all that you've got the correct certificate installed (click View Certificate). You can then revoke the old certs in Certificate Authority.

it's ok it's sorted now. I talked to some server support people.

What I didnt realise was you can see in IIS what certificate is being used on the default website. (what u said)

Which turned out to be the newly formed certificate so I could revoke the old one without fear
