Hi all,

Looking for a bit of help here as I can't seem to find any solution on the web at all.

We use roaming profiles here at our site and because of this any user with a profile won't be able to open Chrome on another machine if they have it open already. This is where we brought in Edge as it would allow users to have Chrome open on let's say their office PC and then use Edge when in a classroom without the need to log off the original PC. We have now pushed the new Chromium Edge to all users and all has been working fine up until last week. For some reason if a user now has Chrome open on another PC and goes to try use Edge, Edge will just not open whatsoever. I have gone through all sorts of research and testing but still can't figure out what is causing it.

I am wondering if maybe because Chrome and Edge are Chromium based browsers that they may be trying to use some form of joint cache area and therefore as it is saved to the roaming profile it won't let it be opened. Although I am highly doubting that this is the case.

Has anyone had this happen recently and if so know how to fix it?

Thanks,

We had this a few years ago. I think you need to turn on "Enable the creation of roaming copies for Google Chrome profile data" in Group Policy for Chrome (and Edge Chromium) and also set the "Set the roaming profile directory" value - it was a while ago so apologies if that's not correct but I think that's what solved it for us!
