I'll be vacating this post after almost 6 enjoyable years:

https://plymouthart.current-vacancies.com/Jobs/Advert/2581739?cid=1452&t=Head-of-ICT

Reason for leaving? I'm moving to work for the NHS as a CISO, a change of direction and ongoing development for me.

I'm happy to answer questions, please read through the advert and download the Head of ICT - Role Profile from the bottom of the advert.

The advert could have probably benefited from an update! There is NO Novell anymore, it's a defacto type network. Honestly it's a nice setup nowadays after all the hard work the team and I put in.

HP procurve switches throughout. 10Gig backbone.

120+ Aerohive APs

Vmware/Vsphere

Multiple sites within walking distance which currently host: Main site, replication and backup.

Working with a contractor on the first stage of server cloud migration (Azure), we already leverage a lot of cloud services but we haven't binned off hosts on prem yet.

We have around 600 Apple Mac computers managed in JAMF (trained IT staff), hundreds of Windows computers managed in intune and SCCM.

The role is a leadership and management position, however it certainly still requires some hands-on techy stuff as well when working with the team. I'm not a big linkedin user, but it'll give you an idea as to part of my job history before this role: https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-jones-it-leadership/

Plymouth College of Art is a University in anything other than title, we achieved TDAP since I started employment. We're still hoping to get a University title, however this isn't a done deal yet. We also have two FE sites that support around 450 students. Having worked for MATs as well as Reading University, i'd say the overall experience is more like working for a University, just a small one.

I have a great relationship with the rest of the leadership team and wider staff body. It's a very honest place to work, with a great community behind it.

All the best,

David

I've had a few discussions with potential candidates. My business email is on the advert for enquiries and I'm happy to jump into a Google Meet/ Teams call if you'd like more information.

Hey David, I'm gutted I missed this job. Did you appoint in the end?
