[voip] Avaya 1408 Office Phone & 3CX

Hi everyone,

 

As a little home project I have bought 2 Avaya 1408 Office Phones and I am planning on running these on 3CX as its free for a year and I’ve only got 2 phones so it won’t cost much after the first year.

 

Will these work? And will they work with 48V poe?

Good news, 3CX standard is free for 4 simultaneous calls even after the first year!

 

Bad news, I believe the 1408 isn't actually an IP phone, but a digital phone, so it won't work at all. You'll need to find something that's SIP compliant.

Sounds like a bit of confusion with your query here

 

If you’re doing internal calls only you don’t need a SIP provider (assuming you’re doing on-site 3CX). If you need external calls or hosted you’d need to pay for lines

 

Regarding your IP office question, that won’t help as you’d need the hardware to connect a digital phone still. Like the ipv500 etc for Avaya

 

You’d be better off buying a cheap yealink phone to play with 3cx rather than trying to mix the brands/setups honestly

Just bought 2 Cisco IP 7940s POE voip phones.

 

They are legacy supported but I’m not bothered about that as long as they work!!
