Does anyone know how to configure Gmail as an SMTP relay without using 'less secure apps' ?

Our copiers use it too for scan to email functionality . I believe SAGE also requires less secure apps to enable remittance emails to be sent via Google. Anyone know what the solution for copiers will be?

The solution is to turn on 2-Step Verification for the Google account(s) in question, and you can then create app-specific passwords for them that will be accepted like normal by Gmail SMTP services.

Exactly that, we did it for our photocopiers and it works. Google said before they will stop supporting less secured apps some time ago.

The only trouble you either need assign a mobile number to that account or use Security Key - but you can use one of these for multiple accounts
