Server 2022 Hosts

Has anyone used Server 2022 as a Host in vain yet? any issues to be aware of?

 

We are implementing new hosts soon, our current are 2016 Server Core. Currently stuck between going to 2019 or 2022! Had a look at the differences between OS but can't see anything that is a game changer!

I'm running 2019 datacentre on my hosts. That's end of life in 2029, I'll be relooking at replacing the hardware by then.

Running a Windows 2022 core File Server no issue thus far, managed by Windows Admin Center.

we stuck with 2019 datacenter as our hypervisors and put 2022 on our domain controllers. VM wise, we migrated from 2016 to 2022 on our two fileservers. Our printer server was already on 2019 so ive not migrated that. Our web server and SQL server are 2019 so I havent migrated that. We still have a legacy exchange server with one mailbox to admin hybrid and act as a relay for our UPS (the printers have 365 A1 accounts for their scan to email, god bless those 1000000 licenses I have). We arent moving to pure Azure AD so will be running in hybrid for a while. I will be migrating to server 2022 and exchange 2019 in the summer. Edited February 24, 2022 by KK20

I was going to put 2022 on our latest server as a Hyper-V host but saw the network configuration had changed since 2016/2019 so reverted back to 2019 for now until tested on spare server.

Got about 3 member servers on 2022 been running for a few months. No issues so far, even on HP ML350 Gen 5 servers!

Just as a note, depending on your off-site backups, there's a number of cloud vendors for things like Veeam that won't support 2022 yet until the next Veeam update (as they normally run at least one behind), so we're waiting until that's done to start testing it
