Google Education Plus licenses

I was wondering before i go off and start getting quotes for Google Education Plus licenses, do resellers have to sell the licenses at a set price or is there movement of prices depending on supplier when purchasing the licenses?

 

If the price is set and there is no movement on the license price, it's pointless getting 3 quotes.

I believe there is wiggle room from different suppliers as I was able to get different pricing by committing to 3 years with our supplier (academia). Licensing is now based on students numbers. So for every 4 student licenses you purchase you get 1 staff license.

 

We ended up paying £3 per student license.

 

2000 student licenses gave us 500 staff licenses.

There is wiggle room, as legally Google cannot fix prices on anyone. They'd love for everyone to sell at the same price, but they can't make resellers do that.

They can contractually set limits on what resellers do. Resellers cannot collude to fix prices, but it is possible for a fixed price to come from the original provider to the reseller. This is why some resellers use other 'services' to add additional markup.

Sorry, yes, Reseller Prince Maintenance is done by many companies - but I'm sure it's not entirely legal anyway - still, no one seems to stick to it.

We are looking at a 3 year license however my worry is, what happens if say in 6 months the number of students increases and what about all the accounts we use that are test student accounts - do these need to be licensed too?

 

I've heard Google "inspect" the domain to make sure everything is above board.

You license based on your student numbers, so i can't see test students being a problem.

Though I would speak to your reseller, really.

If they are anything like the slightly older G-Suite for Education Enterprise licenses, you can apply them to users rather that have them for everyone.

With the new licensing, as others have said it's by student.

 

For every 4 student licenses you get one staff license.

 

We have a high ratio of staff/students so put enough licenses to cover the staff, which turned out to be 1000 student licenses required when we don't even have 500.

 

1 year - £3,200

2 year - £3,040

3 year - £2,880

 

Almost 10k less than the old licensing model!

I signed up for 3 years of Google Workspace Education Plus via Canopy Education. As far as I'm concerned, it's the most value added route, as signing up with them also gives you free access to their Workspace Skills product (worth several £100s itself), which we use for both staff and students as a self paced learning tool for learning how to use Google Workspace.

That's very surprising. From my experience, if you don't have a preferred partner, they will point you in the direction of a few, to avoid showing favourtism. But interesting that you were assigned one.

How do you find the security tools? Email security and sharing reports.

Is it enough compared with a 3rd party email security tool (Acronis or sophos)
