Hi there,

we are a school that currently has a Sophos XG that is doing our web filtering. We now want to change to Smoothwall for the filtering and would like some advice, please.

Currently, the setup is: LAN > XG > Router > WWW

With the Smoothwall in place LAN > Smoothwall Web Filtering > XG > Router > WWW

What would you advise to all Sophos to allow traffic going through the Smoothwall in and out and how to stop the Sophos web-filtering and delivering its Captive portal page?

Many thanks

All the traffic from the Smoothwall will come from it's IP (we don't routinely spoof source) - so a simple filter bypass on the XG should do it.

Hi there,

I have added the Smoothwall inline as instructed during the install.

LAN – Smoothwall (Port 4 connecting to Sophos) – Sophos XG Firewall – Router – WWW

On the Sophos Firewall, there is a rule in place at the top to allow all incoming and outgoing traffic from Smoothwall, without touching it.

However, when we try browsing the web, we are not getting any realtime traffic on the Smoothwall and are still getting the captive portal page for the Sophos.

Any ideas?

Thanks
