Shadow_Walker Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Some new Lenovo laptops we have purchased have come with McAfee pre installed. When they have been setup using OOBE we want to remove McAfee. This guide has been best McAfee Cleanup with Intune – Mr T-Bone´s Blog However hitting an issue when on step 7. Everytime i run the command, i get "Error the folder you specified can not be accessed" I have full control over the folder. Thanks in advance
FN-GM Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Not what you're asking but could be helpful for next time. You can specially ask Lenovo to have a base Windows install with no extras. It just needs the reseller to add a SKU to the order. 2
Mr.Ben Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 I wouldn't trust that McAfee is completely gone and would be rebuilding these from the stock Windows 10/11 media that's available online. Before rebuilding though It would gather the drivers using powershell's Export-Driver function. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/dism/export-windowsdriver?view=windowsserver2022-ps 1
IRL Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Try a fresh start wipe, do not retain user data. 1
CHiLL Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 We also did a Fresh Start wipe like @IRL suggested. I couldn't not for the life of me figure out another way.
Shadow_Walker Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 Thanks all. What process would you do then as have quite a few of them. Would you wipe them before OOBE?
