Windows 11 uninstall pre-built apps

Hello,

 

We have recently purchased new laptops, that has come with Windows 11 pre-built. I have noticed it ha social media apps installed. I have manually uninstalled them but when I login as another user they are back again!!

 

Can anyone provide me with details on what you did, to remove these. Our only problem is that we use the Snipping tool, Calculator, Photos app, Video app, Paint and Notepad, so I don't want them to be uninstalled.

 

Would be grateful for any help!

This is a windows 10 list, but it still works assuming you put the correct package names into it.

subbing in the names of the appx's from the first command you want to remove into the list. You can set that to run once as part of a deployment or on every startup as a scheduled task as cumulatives sometimes put stuff back in.

Hi,

 

I have followed steps from Microsoft here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/startlayout/export-startlayout?view=windowsserver2022-ps) I went to

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar

and enetered the \\domain\Public\StartLayout.xml and applied to my test machine, I have done gpupdate/force restarted etc and it's still not pinning the apps to the Start Menu.

 

Any help would be great

I personally leave the apps, but deny access in AppLocker

I was looking into that but our server is a Standard version.

Any version of server 2016 onwards will do

 

I think the clients need to be on Enterprise though, which isn't a difficult task if you've got Enterprise available in volume licensing, just change the key

Please try the following Powershell to intrativly list and then selectivly remove UWP apps.

 

OS image apps

 

Get-AppxProvisionedPackage -online | Out-GridView -passthru | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -online

 

 

Provisioned apps

 

Get-AppxPackage -allusers | Out-GridView -passthru | Remove-AppxPackage -allusers

 

Note, only apps instlled in Program files can be removed.

Could somebody create me a PS script which I can assign as a GPO to unpin/uninstall on Windows 11. I have the package names.

 

Microsoft.WindowsStore (I set up a GPO to disable the store but hasn't worked, so would be good to be able to unpin from start)
