OverWorked Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Citrix are planning on launching GotoAssist Express soon. As the name implies it's a 'lite' version of GotoAssist, and should be cheaper. At the moment it's on free beta, but when they do launch it it'll be charged. They haven't announced the charges yet. I've used it to help with some of my private clients and it works flawlessly. I'd recommend it to anyone who gives remote support. 1
john Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Sounds good, I must admit though I'm a Logmein free user myself, not quiet as easy as Citrix Gotoassist as it needs a client on the pc and registering to the account but it is free so for small amount of config it can be ok
OverWorked Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 I tried it again last night to give support to someone who'd phoned me, but it wasn't working. The client reported that it had a connection, but it couldn't start a session. No explanation. I reported it to Citrix via the beta support email address. I'm sure they'll get it fixed.
OverWorked Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 The free beta is ending in February 2009. After which it's $660 per year. I don't think I'll be using it at that price. I've been using it occasionally, for my self-employed small business, over the past year but it's not worth paying that. Beta testers get a 30% discount (reducing the price to about £300 + VAT), and there's still time to register. Link below:- http://www.gotoassist.com/s/betafriends
stratisphere Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Anyone heard of TeamViewer - Free Remote Access and Remote Desktop Sharing over the Internet ? It's pretty good. It needs something on the client end... but it's a one click solution thing (simply tell your client/family/it-phobe to goto that site and click download customer module). Works brill, and through firewalls etc. 1

kmount Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 One day someone'll find one of these that works properly with linux; I'd have half expected the Citrix one to but alas no.
dhicks Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 One day someone'll find one of these that works properly with linux I understand there's a version of Fog Creek Copilot in the work for Linux. Certainly the PC and Mac versions work just fine. -- David Hicks 1
IanT Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I've used this beta for a while now, excellent application!
