Good Afternoon,

Just a quick question regarding the licensing of ActivInspire.

We have got licenses which I believe were from when our old IWBs were purchased. Although it was many years ago before I started and information has been lost.

If we were to replace projectors and IWBs with new interactive screens of any make, how does the ActivInspire license work? Would it have just been a perpetual license meaning that the software could still be used or are there other problems?

Thanks

All our ActivInspire licences are only valid for use with an official Promethean Board/Screen and up to 5 devices without a board for lesson prep work (according to the details on the cases and those not connected to the board have a water mark saying there is not a connection)

If you have a different brand of board, your not really covered to use ActivInspire on it.

Now that might be different if you had purchased a site licence or such like, but that was the terms on the original version of ActivStudio that came with the boards when we got them up until 2008

Your purchase of Promethean hardware will entitle you to install ActivInspire on 2 computers, the license stipulates that this can be used for one computer being used with the ActivBoard/ActivPanel and one for another computer for preparation use.

If you are to use third party hardware, then you would not be licensed to use the ActivInspire software.

Any support with ActivInspire being used on third party hardware would also not be provided as it is designed and optimised to be used with Promethean hardware.

If you had purchased a site license, you would have received documentation for what you are entitled to (and for how many computers).

The EULA can be found within ActivInspire under Help>About.

When I enquired, your ActivInspire license came with the board and was for use with the board and the board only. You could license it for use without an ActivInspire board but they charged £500 a device. That was several years ago now.

Also, they have Classflow as a web based alternative.
