Edu-IT Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 Has anyone on Edugeek done anything with Gov.UK Notify and the MIS? https://www.notifications.service.gov.uk/ If not, I think there's scope here for somebody who knows what they're doing to create a nice little utility.... :-D 1
mavhc Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 I started writing a web app to use it, not got back to it for a while as someone paid me to write something else instead

FragglePete Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 We use it in conjunction with Edulink One. All e-mails are sent via the notify service which can be to staff, students and parents. Pete
paulkerton Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 Wasn't even aware this existed, so thank you!

Pete I'm very interested to have discovered this and will be looking to do the same. We've bumped into Google's SMTP relay service quotas a few times with the amount our email our school sends via EduLink.
Linfit Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 We too use it with Edulink One. Integration is very easy, took about 20 minutes, just ask them for the instructions.
Edu-IT Posted November 26, 2021 Author Posted November 26, 2021 Instructions are here: https://www.overnetdata.com/how-to-integrate-gov-uk-notify-with-edulink-one/ I was thinking of something much simpler than full blown EduLink One but nothing exists that taps into Notify. 1

Does seem to be an issue with the reset password links sent via Edulink One via the Gov Notify service, but Overnet as always are dealing with it quickly. Pete
robyholmes Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 Could and have anyone used this with Bromcom?
jthompson Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Just working up to switching our EduLink One communicator service over to GOV.UK Notify, but when selecting the "Gov Notify" option in EduLink, it shows a notice that it can't send email attachments via that service [yet]. Is that what others see? That's a bit of a deal-breaker for us as I know quite a few things here get sent with attachments.

But I've resisted staff and just dictated this is the way for the timebeing. We have other systems in place to bulk e-mail parents with attachments so stick with those. I do know the Gov Notify API does now do attachments but Edulink One hasn't caught up yet. Always worth nudging support as they are pretty quick in getting things in place and changed as necessary. NotSoFast Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 I thought gov.notify just handled SMS. What am I missing?
Alis_Klar Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 limit is 5000 SMS per year (or month?) now for state funded schools https://www.notifications.service.gov.uk/pricing/text-messages
jthompson Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 Good spot. Yes, that's per year (April-April). Down from 10k in previous years.
Chrish5 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 It's dropped pretty much every year, it'll be down to 100 soon enough!
