[sims] "Group code"?

Morning,

 

We use Compass+ for careers. When we imported all our data on to their site using their little app thingy, the reg group is wrong for some of the students. We have been in touch with Compass+ and it's because they populate the reg group field from the field in SIMS .net called "Group Code". We pointed out that they should be using the "Reg Group" one but they weren't having any of it. Anyway, the "Group code" field more often than not is populated with the same data as the "Reg Group" field, but sometimes it is different. Anyone know what this field actually is, and how we update it? The only place I've found it is in designing a report under "Registatration" -> "Groups" -> "Group code". Can't find it anywhere else.

I believe it's the Short Name of the Reg Group, if you navigate to your Pastoral Structure and Rightclick on the Reg Group name, choose properties and have a look in there. Sorry it's the full name! do a quick report with Name and Group Code and see if that helps. Edited November 29, 2021 by SJT

Thanks for the reply, but it isn't that one. They are all set correctly. This is what we've got;

 

 

Compass+ is using the field labelled "Group code" field. Goodness knows why!

I just ran mine to look, and all mine match. Even for Y12 and 13 where we have changed names compared with the past. So I think somewhere you haven't changed both 'bits' of whatever has to be changed when naming reg groups. Maybe try looking in sims documentation for how to change reg group names, and see if there is an extra step somewhere in the pastoral side that hasn't been done.

 

Are you right-clicking the reg group, clicking 'properties' as per my pic and seeing the same?

Yup, everything in there matches. Also, this is happening with our year 7s as well as other groups. We renamed our tutor groups a couple of years ago so surely year 7 shouldn't be affected?

true but there must be a hidden bit somewhere! long shot but have a look at below. Right-click the 'Pastoral Structure' and see if there are any old tutor groups there (I have none there FYI ie no old ones at all):

 

 

1. In the relevant year, right-click the Registration Group/Class folder and select Reuse Old Registration Group/Class from the menu to display the Reuse Old Registration Group/Class dialog.
   
2. Highlight the required Registration Groups/Classes individually and click the OK button each time, to add the selected registration groups back into the school's current Pastoral Structure.

There's only one reg group in the "Re-use old" thingy, and that one isn't formatted incorrectly either.

 

Can't believe i'm having to do this just because Compass+ won't use the correct field.... Grrr.....
