Chromebook issues - number keys stop working, except for 5/6

We appear to be suffering with a glut of devices at the moment where the number keys stop working except for number 5 and 6.

Hardware resetting doesn't seem to do anything (Hold refresh, press power while the device is off, once on, release refresh).

Power washing does. The device seems to be happy after a power wash, but not for very long. It can be as short of a time as us testing it and its fine, hand it over, they go back to their classroom and try it and the keys have stopped working again.

Anyone else had this? Any ideas on a proper resolution?

I've had similar issues with a batch of Asus Chromebooks, I've been lucky so far to get the repaired/replaced under warranty. Might be worth a check?

Same thing happened to my daughter's Chromebook today, Lenovo 300E. Any ideas? Seems odd that it's the exact same issue with the number keys. Also out of warranty

We've had dozens of Lenovo 300E keyboards behave like this, usually a block of keys in one area of the keyboard no longer respond, or, one key jams downnnnnnnnnn.

It's a hardware fault, we had to send each one away for in-warranty repair. I'm really hoping that the majority of the duff ones fail before the warranty is up, because spare parts on these Lenovos are really pricey.

If in doubt, plug in a wired keyboard via USB. If all the keys work fine with the wired keyboard, then it's the built-in one that's died.

Has anyone come up with a solution - I have around 8 out of 50 all with the cdw3 keys and the 3 function keys above those not working. All just out of warranty. Do I need to replace the keyboards ?
