JJonas Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Im looking for a freeware ip monitor. I need to repeatedly ping at least one ip address and produce a graph of the results. I know there are tons of apps that do this but which is the best?
EduTech Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Is this what your after: Iptotal is an IP traffic monitor. It listens to a network interface in non-promiscuous mode, and measures IP bandwidth usage. After the specified number of seconds, the average throughput is printed at total, input and output usage. Download James.
EduTech Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 http://www.paessler.com/ipcheck maybe that then. there is a free version in the downloads section
pete Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Smokeping is pretty good - it'll graph over time and flag latency. Easy to set up to - single config file. SmokePing - About SmokePing Nagios is extremely good, but it takes a fair while longer to get set up. Nagios: Home
JJonas Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 Thanks but... ipcheck will only ping once every 15 mins without a licence Smokeping looks interesting but I just want to do this quickly and in windows
OutToLunch Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Do you really need the graph, or would a log + email if a host goes down suffice? I find Peer Monitor great for keeping an eye on things from my desktop. Green light - up and responding to pings, red light - panic (or go switch back on the AP that has been unplugged by a helpful member of staff). http://www.danielclarke.com/peermonitor/
Ex-MGSTech Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 is this any use? FREEping - FREE IP Ping Software | Free software and tools for Windows 2003 XP 2000 NT Steve
MrBatchfile Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 How about PingTerminal ? ? ? Any good? IT Samples - Ping Terminal 1
JJonas Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 Thanks Ping terminal looks like what I was looking for and I think im going to have to take a good look at nagios over the summer.
