I really dont know how to feel about this. Uncharted 2 is one of my favourite games of all time I honestly think its a masterpiece. The lack of Nate's theme combined with the (in my opinion) odd casting choice is making me doubt whether this will be a good video game movie.

 

I would love to be proven wrong though.

What we wanted was the one with Nathan Fillion. What we get may be the equivalent of Sahara to the Clive Cussler book...I hope not.

 

Edit: Couldn’t watch at work. I can go for this - young Nate, “oh crap!”, scenes that look like a level from the game (I can just feel the muscle memory watching the cargo crate jumps!)

 

Looks fun. I don’t worry about action movies being classics, even with a franchise I love.

I didn't have much iinterest in the games, I played about 2/3rds of the way through the first one.

I have the same feeling about this. Will catch it when it appears on whichever streaming service Sony has a deal with.

Yeah but Nathan Fillion is 50, so 10 years ago maybe. You don't start a franchise with someone in their 50s by a rule. Taken aside, but that was never really meant to be a franchise to begin with.

I rewatched the Nathan Fillion "fan film" as well as the trailer last night and the casting on the former was much better (though why they couldn't get Emily Rose in as Elena...). I do agree that Nathan F is a bit old to launch a franchise, but after some time in the gym, it might just have worked. Stephen Lang as Sully was much better, too. Plus, if NF was ND then Claudia Black would be fine as Chloe.

 

The rewatch also had me scratching my head as to why the bad guy's voice was so familiar. Eventually realised he was in the short-lived sitcom Perfect Harmony:

It's approaching from a different time period, so 'old Nate' could be done without any problems - NF (hell, even Nolan North!), Claudia Black, Emily Rose - what a great sub-cast that would be if somehow fitted in to the film franchise!

"Uncharted" will be aired on Channel 4 on Saturday, the 15^th of February, at 8:00 PM and will later be available to stream Channel 4.
