sippo Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 (edited) As Microsoft are plugging the plug on Office 365 services on Office 2016, how do we upgrade? We have tried a manual update but had no success. We are getting security updates. Our current version is 16.0.4266.1001 Edited October 13, 2021 by sippo
Face-Man Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 Office 365 full fat apps are licenced differently from Office 2016 2019 and 2021 so require a fresh install rather than upgrade https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/download-and-install-or-reinstall-microsoft-365-or-office-2021-on-a-pc-or-mac-4414eaaf-0478-48be-9c42-23adc4716658#InstallSteps=Install_on_a_PC
sippo Posted October 13, 2021 Author Posted October 13, 2021 Apologies, my mistake. Meant office 2016.
Oaktech Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 Office 2016 doesn't EOS for office 365 until 2023? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/endofsupport/microsoft-365-services-connectivity "Versions of Office 2019 and Office 2016 will be supported for connecting to Microsoft 365 (and Office 365) services until October 2023." "Office 2016 connectivity support for Office 365 services In addition, we are modifying the Office 365 services system requirements related to service connectivity. In February, we announced that starting October 13, 2020, customers will need Office 365 ProPlus or Office 2019 clients in mainstream support to connect to Office 365 services. To give you more time to transition fully to the cloud, we are now modifying that policy and will continue to support Office 2016 connections with the Office 365 services through October 2023." "Office 2016 16.0.4599.9999 and older" You just have to make sure they're updated.
sippo Posted October 13, 2021 Author Posted October 13, 2021 That's the issue we have. We cannot update to 4599.

Oaktech Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 I've just looked at my update history and my machine shows that an office update in April last year pushed the file version number of outlook.exe past 4599
