Role Overview

 

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of up to £62k, 25 days of annual leave (plus bank holidays), NEST pension scheme and CPD opportunities.

 

You will report to the Head of IT, and will be responsible for overseeing our client’s network and infrastructure, and ensuring it supports a forward-thinking organisation. You’ll need a proven track record of success in a busy IT team, and previous experience of designing and implementing technical solutions, supporting Server, Cloud & Virtual infrustructure, Meraki Networks and Wireless, Aruba Switches, Palo Alto and Smoothwall firewalls.

 

An enhanced DBS check will be required.

 

Responsibilities:

 

● Oversee our client’s network and infrastructure

● Diagnose, investigate and resolve any server, network, software or hardware issues

● Manage the resolution of all major incidents

● Architect new builds and implementation of the infrastructure

● Architect and design solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements

● Provide physical and virtual machine support and maintenance

● Monitor and maintain security back ups

● Deliver migration of Cloud Services

● Storage area network installation and management

● Networked systems monitoring

● Ensure all work is carried out within agreed timeframes

● Test all changes to networks, hardware, software, and hosted applications

● Monitor systems and proactively identify any performance issues

● Assist with BAU escalations and strategy of IT

● Oversee the IT Manager

 

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:

 

● Full UK driving licence

● Good numeracy and literacy skills

● Working knowledge of ICT needs and usage in the Education sector

● Working knowledge of ICT hardware use, maintenance, and repair

● Previous project management experience of refreshing network infrastructure to a modern Meraki solution

● Previous experience working in IT support including troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues

● Experience of designing and implementing technical solutions, supporting Meraki Networks and Wireless, Aruba Switches, Palo Alto and Smoothwall firewalls

● 3rd Line technical ability, design and implementation

● Ability to configure equipment

● Working knowledge of the following: Virtualisation platforms; Azure/AWS; Office365, G-suite, Azure, AWS management; microsoft server technologies; active directory management/Azure AD; network design, fault finding and installation; public and private cloud deployment; WAN, Wi-Fi, data centre LAN, SD, LAN networks, telephony, mobile solutions infrastructure, unified comms, network management solutions; switch technologies; firewall and web filtering technologies; print management software; desktop imaging solutions; backup systems, business continuity; VOIP telephony systems; wireless network technologies; desktop software; cyber security; security controls.
