maxrebo Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Hi, Please could someone recommend a good classroom management solution for using IPads in the classroom? Teachers would like to view, restrict apps and share documents to Single\multiple devices during lessons. Thanks

RLR Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Yes, I was aware of Google Classroom, can anyone comment on how good it is? You mentioned Google Classroom but I think you meant Apple Classroom. We use Apple Classroom at our school and it works very well once it is setup. If you don't have Apple School Manager or an MDM that supports Edu profiles then you will need to ask Staff to setup the Apple Classrooms. If you have ASM and an MDM you can do this all yourself and it will push out to the iPads.

mattfreemens Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 We use Apple Classroom with our iPads, and we've always had inconsistent issues with it, which is a shame because when it does work, it's great. Our main issue is staff and/or students appearing as being 'Offline'. We're using JamF Pro as our MDM, uploading the data sheets via SFTP into Apple School Manager. A small but significant number of classes encounter the offline issue, which can be either the whole class or half the class. We've checked that bluetooth is on, aeroplane mode is off, that the EDU profiles are installed. Most classes work perfectly all the time. Others work sometimes, then not. Some have never worked. If anyone has any tricks for us to try, I'd love to hear them. Thanks.
RLR Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Yes, we're seeing this offline issue a lot more recently. The fix is to restart the iPad(s) by holding down the power button and home button together. Most of the time it's just the teacher that needs to do it but every now and then a student iPad will need to restarted too. It's possible it has something to do with teachers not "Ending Class" when they're finished using Apple Classroom. It's as if there is a session being held open and the restart closes this session.
