Danp Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Anyone using something other than email or MIS for parent comms? Clarion Call, Parent Mail etc It's been a few years since I last looked into it, but the time has come again.
ass17 Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 I would say most are now using ParentMail or the messaging system within their MIS. 1
Ditto Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 For email, we made use of parent email groups that were maintained for a variety parent groups along with a hierarchy of year, tutor and 'all parents' groups that were maintain as groups in what is now Google Workspace. For SMS, we used MIS functionality, which was the increasingly rare Progresso (now referred to as Cloud School). 1
TechMonkey Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 Niche but we have used WhatsApp for on trip communications. We make it Admin post only, use school phones and have the home contact on as an admin as well. This way staff can easily send photos as and when, let parents know what is going on and update them on travel timings without the faff of either contacting the school office or having to use a web interface to email or SMS parents. In an emergency the Admin only setting can be turned off to allow easy comms with parents and the home contact would take control. Obviously relies on all parents having WhatsApp and the school having phones as I wouldn't be comfortable asking staff to use their own. 1
Danp Posted September 16, 2021 Author Posted September 16, 2021 weduc--- Apparently we had that until quite recently
fiza Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 We use Edulink for Parental communications. https://www.overnetdata.com/edulink-one/ 1
DavR Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 We're using Tucasi School Cash Office to do ours, which is MIS linked for contacts. We use SCO to manage all our school payments, so it was a cheap enough add-on to use the messaging function too. I think this replaced Groupcall Messenger. Can't say as I'd recommend the product just for Comms, but it does the job.
jthompson Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 EduLink here, too. It does a grand job but you need to bring your own mail relay for it to use. EduLink does lots more besides parent communications, so it may not be that viable if that's all you're needing of it.
Danp Posted September 17, 2021 Author Posted September 17, 2021 We use Edulink for Parental communications. https://www.overnetdata.com/edulink-one/ SIMS integration only
