itgeek Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Hi, I have have had an issue with my main Domain controller and I am going to seize the roles to my secondary dc as suggested. I have a split scope DHCP/DNS etc how do I migrate the split scope back to my secondary AD controller so its running everything. I can still power on my old dc if that helps? Thank you
3s-gtech Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Split scope rather than failover? If so, I'd modify the scope changing your secondary DC/DHCP host as the only server and changing the server/scope options to reflect that. The, when you have another DHCP host built, set up failover instead and change the DHCP options back.
Jcx500 Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 export the dhcp scope and import it on the new server
itgeek Posted August 18, 2021 Author Posted August 18, 2021 Perfect Thanks for the suggestions. So my plan is Seize the server roles to my secondary dc and clean up the metadata Move DHCP scopes change DNS Have I missed anything? Thanks again
3s-gtech Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Any other roles that DC performed? If not, you’re pretty good to go with what you have planned. Get your new DC OS nicely patched up before promoting it (some Server 2019 updates are quite big). Prepare the directory by updating the schema with adprep, if you haven’t had a 2019 DC before, first.
