Sydders01 Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Hi All , We have some old Macs , 2011 they were running Macos High sierra . I changed the hard drives to SSD as they have become un bootable for our DT classes. I re-install the OS and it installed MAC OS Lion 10.7.5. This I can't update to 10.8 or High Sierra. After much research I was able to get a dmg of OS X EL Captain online formatted a usb and installed it on the usb. Each them I tried to install this on the MAC it says it is not genuine I should go to the APP store and get one.. The App store is not letting me get the dmg for either high Sierra or OS X EL captain Please is anyone able to get this via their app store using their mac and share with me? Thanks

3s-gtech Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 I’ve used that link several times in the last couple of weeks, on Macs, to get hold of 10.13. Open it in Safari, and scroll down to the link for 10.13. That should open in App Store. You then need to use the terminal to create a USB bootable version of the dmg.
Sydders01 Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 It doesn't open on our Old mac for some strange reason. Please see the attached. Sydders01 Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 It comes up with "We could not complete your purchase . This update requires macOS version 10.8 or later and when you go on the MAC update version it says your software is up to date hence I want the image from someone so I can burn on a USB and use for about 20 MAC that are on version 10.7.5 Thanks
3s-gtech Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 It doesn't open on our Old mac for some strange reason. Please see the attached. How odd! Even opened it on an old 10.6 Snow Leopard install recently. Try Googling for ‘Mac OS 10.13’ which should give you the same link. The Mac will need the App Store app installed.
computer_expert Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Are you not able to use the 10.12 Sierra DMG linked at the bottom of that KB article, then use that to upgrade one mac and then get the 10.13 installer?
Sydders01 Posted August 16, 2021 Author Posted August 16, 2021 Hi @computer_expert, That is exactly what am doing and that seems to be going ok now Are you not able to use the 10.12 Sierra DMG linked at the bottom of that KB article, then use that to upgrade one mac and then get the 10.13 installer?
joewb Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 Using an installer that old you likely will not have valid certificates. Try to set the date/time of the Mac back a few years and then run through the process - That should get around the issue for you!
