Dual monitor and HDMI splitter

Hi,

 

I've been swapping some projectors for TV's and hitting a snag.

 

In one room where there is a VGA and HDMI output the VGA monitor only works when the TV is on.

 

In another room, I have dual monitors and a powered HDMI splitter (one to tv and one to the second monitor)... the hdmi monitor is really flaky unless the TV is on.

 

I probably should know this but I've only just started using TV's in classrooms.

 

All have graphics cards in the PC's.

I'm guessing you don't have DVI or Displayport as well as HDMI do you?

In the first scenario, I assume the the VGA monitor works fine when the HDMI is unplugged from the PC? Try using a lower resolution in case the TV decides to become the primary monitor which the VGA monitor doesn't like

 

Second scenario try using shorter cables as a test before lengthening to your desired setup to see if it's a cable issue
