Removing GSuite and O365 Sync

Good morning

 

We've been using both Office 365 and GSuite (Google Classroom and Drive mainly) for about 5 years with login synced using AD > Azure/O365 > G Suite.

 

We are moving all of our O365 email over to the Welsh Government Hwb system which is fine and comes with its own sync with Google, but so that staff can retain access to archived content on Google I'd like to remove the AD Sync and I can manage their passwords manually if needed.

 

I'm worried that if I simply remove the AD > Azure/O365 > G Suite then all of my users will be lost and obviously dont want this. I'm hoping by removing this setting in Azure then Google will juse exist with the current users and data.

 

I've been searching but cant find anything to tell me what migth happen, does anyone have any experience of this?
