cheaptonersucks Posted September 28, 2021 Author Posted September 28, 2021 Thanks haci. If you find anything in your emails please can you let me know. This is just weird as it’s not affecting all staff.
cheaptonersucks Posted September 28, 2021 Author Posted September 28, 2021 That’s fine haci. Back to the drawing board!
cheaptonersucks Posted September 28, 2021 Author Posted September 28, 2021 Totally agree round2it, I think Windows 10 and O365 will be the end of me too!! Getting so tired of all the ‘weird issues’ with Windows 10 and Office 365. Don’t know what else I can try as it can’t be the filtering or it would affect everyone.... This must be a bug in the affected teachers O365 account???
round2it Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 im at a loss with this one ,Microsoft give me the usual reset to default blah blah blah (real world it does not work) 1
cheaptonersucks Posted September 28, 2021 Author Posted September 28, 2021 Me too, don’t know what else I can try... I had the same from Microsoft as they just recommended resetting browsers and checking the Microsoft editor settings which I had already done. Didn’t think this was a profile issue but I deleted the users profiles anyway. It’s just odd that it’s only affecting two staff and on a domain everything is the same! It’s so frustrating as it sounds minor but it’s probably going to start affecting more staff as time goes by!!!
Boredguy Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 I've skimmed through the thread, and it seems that the issue is nothing to do with Office 365 itself, but rather the browser your accessing the web version of the office app in? If your users are able, in Edge, can you go to Settings -> Languages? The Enable Spellcheck section should have the language it is using selected under it (we have English (United Kingdom) enabled, but not English or English (United States)) If you add a word into the Customised Spell Check in this section, the Word Online App picks it up in Edge. 1
cheaptonersucks Posted September 29, 2021 Author Posted September 29, 2021 Any developments on this one round2it?
cheaptonersucks Posted September 29, 2021 Author Posted September 29, 2021 Thanks Boredguy, I checked the language setting in Edge and set it to English (United Kingdom) when this first occurred. The spell check still doesn’t work. I asked the member of staff who the spell check has stopped working for recently (2 staff now) and she says it does work from home! The first affected member of staff says it doesn’t work at home! I might ask for a screenshot from the user who says that is doesn’t work from home... Getting fed up with this as I don’t know what else to check!
Boredguy Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Assume there a logical reason why they are only using the browser based version of Office and do not have the standard Click to Run application installed which allows access to the files as long as you are logged in to Office, as that would resolve any issue with spell checking in the browser not functioning (and also allow access to the rest of the applications ability as the web version does have several features removed including it's own spell checker). 1
cheaptonersucks Posted September 29, 2021 Author Posted September 29, 2021 Thanks, we have the desktop version of 2016 installed, but staff use the web version of Outlook as the network manager prefers that staff don’t use the desktop client version of Outlook. He has locked down the desktop version so that they can’t use it.
round2it Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 no sorry my problem seems to be spreading around the school, but again it is not working at home also 1
round2it Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 i uninstalled edge reinstalled uk language file tested on outlook again and typed some garbage and for a second the red undeline bar showed then dissapeared just tested this plugin https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/grammar-spell-checker-%E2%80%94/hfjadhjooeceemgojogkhlppanjkbobc and the spellchecking is working via the plugin need to check if it is a paid for one though 1
