What MFPs are you using around your sites?

I am looking at getting rid of our Epson WORKFORCE PRO WF-8590DWF (I was a Head of Year, at the time of purchase, and had nothing to do with this absolute waste of money).

We have a load of Konica's on a managed service. Mostly KM Bizhub 3100P for IT Labs then Bizhub C3851/C3351's for staff work rooms where they need to scan, etc

 

Work really well indeed. Any issues are very quickly resolved.

To be honest I think most are as good as each other, a lot comes down to who you have managing them and how good their service is in reality. I swear by our Toshiba's as they tend to go forever between maintenance visits, our provider DirectTec have been great(although they've just been taken over by Appogee...)

 

At one point we had Kyocera devices via Danwood and they caused us nothing but problems, one would work for 200 pages once an engineer left and then revert to the same issue. Despite many calls and me insisting we never met their replacement criteria.

 

We switched to DirectTec and had a fantastic experience, toners delivered automatically, engineers out within the day etc.

 

I would look to ensure they are using genuine toner and parts as part of the agreement and hopefully get free toner delivery - it adds up quickly when their automated ordering system send out individual toners rather than combining them. Its also worth seeing if you can get them to freeze the cost per page for the first couple of years.

 

As a school its probably worth looking into the frameworks availible, we didn't on this occasion as we had to pay a large settlement to our previous providers.

Snap with Sharp. We have a contract direct with them and the last major tender, they blew the competition out of the water.

We have Sharp mostly at our sites, but the latest batch installed March 2021 literally fall to bits. I have had tray runners "fall off", fuser units lose plastics part that then go into the rollers, constant paper jams... Been an absolute nightmare!

Best way to go - Have you gone via one of the frameworks? I did ours towards the end of 2019 via a CCS one so if you need any advice let us know.

Yeah. I have left that side of things with Finance and the principal. I only interjected again when i saw they were going beyond the scope. I am not ending up with more Epson workforces!

Got ours on a lease direct from Ricoh, nobody could match it let alone beat it!
