We have had Canon MFDs on a management print contract which are about to go back. Canon have said personal data could be held in data storage on the Canon machine and it is our responsibility to delete the data. Canon can do it for us but want £125 to do it!!. Does anyone know how to delete data on these so we can do it in-house?

I would've thought a factory reset should clear any personal data, but you will probably need a high level access level on the device to be able to do it. What is the model no. of the device?

I’ve done it on some old Canons, as well as our Konica machines - the options are a little buried but are usually there in the admin menus. The drives can usually be zeroed rather than just reformatted.

Here's the advice I was given by one of the engineers: On, or to coincide with, the last day of your contract, call an engineer out for a 'quality issue' and ask them to do it.

I think that will just delete the data from the Hard Disk - https://oip.manual.canon/USRMA-1011-zv-CS-enUV/contents/CT0307_admin_0098.html#720_h1_01

You need to find the option to "Initialize the data and settings to delete data such as files stored in the Mail Box, Address Book information, or copy and print log information. Initializing All Data/Settings" on the device itself, I'm not sure if you will be able to do it from the web GUI.

Ah yes. Found it on the MFD via the front panel. Will give this ago on the day before collection. Thanks
