Just to make you aware, of the email received below. 100% dodgy - but the actual MS Form link works to capture information! I have intentionally blanked out the 'to' field but it did have our genuine enquiries email address in.

This is a valid request from a valid email and you have to respond.

 

I suggest you reply to the email rather than respond by what may be a dodgy link.

 

The Brian Maloney ICO tribunal found that it was unreasonable to expect respondents to reply using a link they could not trust.

 

Assuming it is a valid email address, you only have to supply the information. You do not have to respond in a particular format just to make their life easier. (I am not suggesting you deliberately make his life difficult)

Unlike this one, the request was not valid. It was ruled that, had the request been valid, it was still not reasonable to expect a school to click on a link they didn’t trust.

 

This decision was upheld at appeal.

Assume you're substituting the (00 44) with just "0" and not dialling "0044" first? The other posts make a fair point in that, while this request has to be treated and replied to appropriately, you don't necessarily have to browse to an external page/form to do so.

The email address is valid. This is a valid request. That the phone numbers don’t work is immaterial

That said, if a valid trusted link is supplied then it would be better to use it. Respond to his email and ask.

As stated, it's a valid request, but I do note the subject title says "FoI for the guardian on sexual misconduct in schools", so I think it needs to be passed to the appropriate person. I suspect in the absence someone with that specific role, it needs the head to reply.

 

*** Edit *** perhaps what I wasn't making clear, is I don't think it is an IT role for FoI requests.

It’s for The Guardian newspaper. Whoever normally deals with FoI should deal with it… and inevitably it will need to be signed off as correct by the Head as the buck stops with them if anything is wrong.

I can see that viewpoint now - I guess I would have expected an upper case 'G', but on reflection, it is the grauniad!

I think it's in relation to the recent 'everyones invited' website. Check if your school is on it!

I’ve been in contact with him and it is a legitimate request. I’ve also informed him of the more recent tribunal decision too and he is looking for the best way to gather it that is the least trouble all round.

 

He might even drop in here but at least he understands that it is being discussed and the issue of forms has been a problem in the past.
