Managed Chromebooks - best way to reset them ready for a new user

Hi all, this is our first year using Chromebooks 1-2-1 in years 5 & 6.

 

What is the best way to remove the old years 6 account, so it's ready to handout to the new year 5 class in September. Hopefully I can just click a button and don't need to log in using my 'Chromesetup' account on each one.

You probably don't 'need' to do anything, but the powerwash feature is what you'd want to scrub off any prior user account data from the device. You won't need to login to do that. If you haven't used powerwash before, check your settings for it in Google Admin to set your devices to automatically re-enrol to your domain after a powerwash (https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/6352858?hl=en).

 

To perform a powerwash, press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+r on the login screen and then proceed through the confirmation. https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/183084?hl=en

Have you got them setup already to remove the accounts on log out in your devices OU?

You can clear profiles from the Admin section.

Seems to take ages though. a powerwash is a couple of minutes and then done.

 

We do powerwash all ours if they are going back out.

With automatic re-enrollment in place, the powerwashing of a fleet of Chromebooks could just be farmed out to any suitable helpers, so you needn't have to do the entire lot yourself.

Remote powerwash was announced recently. It hasn't been released as of yet, but it shouldn't be too far away!

As in google admin interface, selecting the Chromebook and clearing profile? never seemed to work always used to sit there doing nothing for me?

Yeah, I do a couple a week. Normally because PaperCut has failed to work for someone.

Selecting a device and clicking reset > clear user profile does work :-)
